Police say a man found dead in the Adirondacks died from an accidental fall from a ledge.
The body of Jeremy Quinn, 38, was found Wednesday night in the woods off Route 73 in Keene-- a week after he disappeared.
An autopsy was conducted Thursday and police and forest rangers searched for clues near where the body was found. Based on those findings, investigators concluded that Quinn suffered fatal injuries from what they called a "substantial fall."
"We established that the injuries were such that he had fallen there and injuries so severe that they prohibited him from walking very far, or going very far," N.Y. State Police Capt. Robert LaFountain explained.
"Investigators have to deal with the facts but the facts have a lot of gaps and it's a difficult thing to resolve," said Dan Plumley, a Keene resident.
Police told a packed community room in Keene that Quinn went into the woods alone and no one was involved in his death. He did have a handgun with him, but it had not been fired.
Quinn's car was found near a remote camp soon after he disappeared last Tuesday. A search was conducted in the nearby woods not far from where his body was eventually discovered.
