MIDDLEBURY, Vt. (WCAX) - Two Green Mountain Power workers fell 50-feet while fixing a utility pole Wednesday.

Vermont State Police say 25-year-old Jared Allen and 37-year-old Josh McLean were working on a pole on Blake Roy Road in Middlebury when the pole broke and they fell to the ground.

We’re told Allen landed on the ground next to the pole and McLean landed on the ground with the pole partially on top of him.

Police say they were wearing safety harnesses and both have head and internal injuries. They were taken by helicopter to the hospital.

It’s believed the wooden pole had internal damage that led to it snapping.
