BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Vermont environmental officials have completed soil testing at the former Macy’s, the proposed location to house Burlington High School students next year

The Burlington School Board last week voted in favor of a lease agreement for the space after the high school building was shuttered earlier this fall over PCB contamination concerns and the lease for the alternate site was contingent on test results for the former mall, which was the site of a laundromat. The site is not believed to impact the building and Department of Environmental Conservation officials say the soil tests are expected back in early December. DEC has offered to cover the costs of the testing.

High school students started using Edmunds Middle School this week for the first in-person classes of the year. The school district hopes to move students into the old Macy’s by the end of February.
