UVM completes two-game sweep of UMBC
Anna Olsen earns historic honor while leading Cats to third straight win.
BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - All five Vermont starters reached double figures on Monday afternoon as the Catamounts won their third straight league game defeating UMBC 65-54 from UAlbany’s SEFCU Arena. With the win Vermont improved to 4-2 in America East play.
First-year forward Anna Olsen led the charge with 18 points and ten rebounds. Fellow starters Deleany Richason, Josie Larkins, Emma Utterback and Madison Smith scored between 14 and ten points as all five starters played at least 34 minutes.
OIsen was also named the America East player of the week, as well as rookie of the week for the third time in a row. She’s just the third player in conference history, dating back to 1984, to win both awards the same week.
The last UVM player to be named conference rookie of the week three straight times was Courtnay Pilypaitis, who did so five times in a row, in the 2006-07 season.
