BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) - A new study has found that cancer-related deaths continue to decline, with a dramatic drop in just the past two years.

The report last month by the American Cancer Society last month found that between 2017 and 2018, the cancer death rate fell a record 2.4 percent. But researchers still estimate nearly two million new cancer cases will be diagnosed this year and more than 600,000 people will die from cancer.

Cat Viglienzoni spoke with Dr. Brian Sprague, a cancer researcher at the University of Vermont Cancer Center, about the new findings.
