RUTLAND, Vt. (WCAX) - The Diamond Run Mall in Rutland is back in discussions with the Select Board.

The mall closed in November 2019.

Now, representatives of the mall are telling the board their goal is to redevelop portions of the former shopping center. This includes adding small boutique stores, unnamed anchor stores and potentially a hotel.

Nothing has been put in writing yet, but if any new plans affect their current Act 250 permit, the property owners, Zamias Services, Inc., would have to amend it.

“It does appear that they are actively pursuing tenants and leases. They are doing some pre-lease discussions and letters of interest, so there is some activity there,” said Mary Ashcroft, the chair of the Rutland Town Select Board.

The representatives say there could be an announcement within 90 days.

The Select Board has invited them back for a meeting in mid-June to hear more unless they announce something sooner.
