Man arrested near NH mental health center, said he had bomb
MANCHESTER, N.H. (AP) - Police in Manchester say a man was arrested outside of a community mental health center after he said he had a bomb.
Police said Wednesday the man had a box and was yelling. Officers calmed him down and got him to move away from the box. He was taken into custody. The center and four homes were evacuated as a precaution. The New Hampshire State Police Bomb Squad disrupted the device and determined that there was no danger to the public.
The man taken into custody was identified as 31-year-old Ernesto Mateo, of Manchester. He was charged with placement of simulated explosives and resisting arrest. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.
