CROWN POINT, N.Y. (WCAX) - New York State Police say one of the suspects in a Crown Point home invasion early Tuesday died at the scene and now they are looking for others.

Troopers were called to a home on 1735 Creek Road at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday. They say they have now identified a suspect who died at the home, although they have not said how they died. Police say a resident was also injured and was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police are looking to identify other possible suspects and say they believe there is no threat to the public at this time.

Kathy Hyatt has lived on Creek Road since 2008 and says she went to bed early last night and didn’t hear anything. “I had taken my hearing aids out. I wouldn’t have heard anything,” she said. That was until around 2 a.m. when she was woken by police lights. “There were police all up and down the street.”

Hyatt said she didn’t know the crime scene was her neighbor’s house until she saw the caution tape.

Police investigators were on the scene all day and Essex County District Attorney Kristy Sprague also spent part of the afternoon there.

“This tends to be a very quiet road, so this was very unexpected. The neighbors seem to be very quiet people,” Hyatt said. She said her neighbors moved in last summer and she’s only spoken to them once. “Never seen people around much.”
