ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. (WCAX) - Two Vermont troopers were injured late Saturday night after subduing an alleged drunk driver in St. Johnsbury who they say drove across people’s yards.

Police say Derek Bristol, 24, of St. Johnsbury, is charged with DUI and assault on law enforcement officers.

Troopers say Bristol nearly hit people when he drove across several yards on Avenue A in St. Johnsbury Friday night.

He’s then accused of stopping and running away.

Police say he fought them when they tried to catch him and two troopers had to be treated for their injuries.

Bristol is due in court on Monday.
