NORWICH, Vt. (WCAX) Police say a New Hampshire man had marijuana in his system when he crashed his car in Vermont, killing one passenger and injuring another.
It happened on Interstate 91 in Norwich at about 4:30 a.m. Sept. 3. Vermont State Police say Keith Cushman, 34, of Lebanon, was headed south when he lost control, hit the median and rolled his car. Theodore Haley, 37, was pinned under the car and died at the scene. Another female passenger was hospitalized with a head injury.
Police say toxicology tests show Cushman had cannabis in his blood at the time of the crash. He was charged with grossly careless and negligent operation with death resulting to one and serious bodily injury to the other.
He's due in Windsor County Superior Court in February.
