Rutland City Police pulled over a car for a minor motor vehicle violation Sunday and ended with a bust for counterfeit bills.

After giving a false ID, Rutland police identified the driver as Kaseem Taylor, 21, who did not have a valid driver's license.

The passenger was identified as Daquan Francis, 22. Both are from Staten Island, New York.

After discovering the two had allegedly been smoking marijuana, police searched the car and the men. They say Francis tried to flee the scene when officers first tried to search him.

After being arrested, officers discovered Francis was in possession of 42 counterfeit $100 bills. Taylor was reportedly in possession of two counterfeit $100 bills.

Francis was charged with impeding a police officer and possession of counterfeit money. Taylor was charged with impeding a police officer, possession of counterfeit money and false information to police.

Both are being held at the Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility.
