Virus outbreak at Burlington nursing home up to 36 cases
Eight more residents of a Burlington nursing home have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases to nearly 40.
Birchwood Terrace announced its first case last Wednesday, and with the latest cases, it brings the total to 36 residents and three staff that have tested positive for the virus, according to the Vermont Health Department. At least one resident has died.
Birchwood officials there say they have now tested all residents, even those who previously came up negative. They say all residents are being closely monitored and screened, no visitors are allowed except in end-of-life cases.
At least twenty-two staff have previously tested positive. They say staff are being screened and receiving temperature checks twice per day and are also being tested for the virus.
