Vt. Guard celebrates Easter Sunday on Monday
It's a day after Easter Sunday but the Vermont National Guard took some time Monday to celebrate the holiday they missed.
Due to preparation efforts at the Alternate Healthcare Facility at the Champlain Valley Expo and personnel being required to stay at the facility, a lot of members were not able to celebrate this Easter Sunday.
So with the help of a few local organizations, the National Guard hosted an Easter Dinner event Monday afternoon at the Expo.
Father Scott Gratton, who helped organize the event, said the event set a positive and relaxed mood at the facility.
"You can feel it in the air; there's a little more spirit. We're adapting right now, we're still on our mission, we're still working hard, we're waiting for any sort of 'new' news that might come up, but today's a day to just kind of recognize and be, be able to enjoy ourselves," Gratton said.
The Alternate Healthcare Facility is only caring for one patient at this time. They are poised to take more at the discretion of the state.
