Beekmantown school board member arrested

BEEKMANTOWN, N.Y. (WCAX) Andrew Brockway, a member of the Beekmantown school board, was arrested late last week after allegedly threatening fellow board members and the school superintendent.

He faces menacing and harassment charges.

The incident took place during a public school board meeting last Tuesday. Brockway was arrested two days later. The Beekmantown school board issued an apology to members of the community.

Brockway is also a lawyer. He had represented Gene Palmer, a prison guard charged with helping Richard Matt and David Sweat escape from the Clinton Correctional Facility in 2015. Brockway abruptly stepped down from the case.

We have reached out to Brockway's law firm for comment, but have not heard back.
