Want to get around on two wheels, but don't have a bike? We'll now you can rent one through a bike share.

Greenride is Vermont's first public bikeshare program and it's launching throughout Chittenden County this month.

It works by downloading an app and receiving a code to enter on the bike's solar-powered smart system. Users can chose between a $2 quick trip or pay for a membership that ranges from $15 to $50.

"There are so many reasons why you should get on a bike. It's sometimes expensive and sometimes you only need it for a short distance, so the bike share is going to fill that gap, that niche," said Jim Barr with UVM's transportation and parking services.

The bikes will be stored at 17 locations with 80 bikes throughout Chittenden County. Officials say 35 electric bikes are expected to be added this summer.
