Burlington Police warn of release of sex offender

Darryl Galloway

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) Burlington Police are warning about a high-risk sex offender who is set to get out of prison next week.

Officials say Darryl Galloway is set to be released next Tuesday after serving his most recent sentence for several lewd and lascivious conduct convictions in 2007. Police say Galloway entered a clothing store on Church Street and removed his pants and underwear to "try on some new pants," exposing himself to employees.

Galloway also has prior convictions for public masturbation near the UVM campus and aggravated stalking of a college-age female.

Officials say Galloway rejected treatment while in prison and that if he were to re-offend, his most likely victims would be females between the ages of six and 21, both known and unknown to him.

Police say he will initially live in a motel in the Burlington area and will be listed on the Vermont Sex Offender Registry.
