Burlington leaders concerned about stall-out on mall development

BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) Leaders in Burlington, Vermont, are calling for developers to be more upfront about the mall project that has appeared to have stalled out.

The CityPlace Burlington project is months behind schedule, and developer Don Sinex has not secured all the financing for the $235 million project. Vermont Public Radio reports Sinex said he couldn't comment extensively, but said in a statement that the project would start up again in the spring.

Democratic Mayor Miro Weinberger says he's unhappy about the delays, but is cautiously optimistic it will restart soon. The city has not invested taxpayer money into the project, but the redevelopment does include reopening two public streets.
