BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) Hundreds of trees were planted along the Winooski River Thursday, thanks to some Burlington fourth-graders.
The students from CP Smith planted more than 300 trees at the Ethan Allen Homestead.
It is part of a unit the students are doing on environmental stewardship.
The project was completed with help from the Winooski Valley Park District and the Intervale Conservation Nursery.
"The students today are digging holes and planting trees provided by the Intervale that are good for this place. That will hopefully help grow and stabilize this river bank," teacher Kim Brockway said.
The students also took time to do some invasive plant removal.
