Authorities say that elderly couple busted in Nebraska last week for allegedly having 60 pounds of pot were the parents of a Vermont deputy prosecutor.
Patrick Jiron, 80, and Barbara Jiron, 70, were arrested last week in York County, Nebraska. They allegedly told police they were headed to Vermont and planned to give the $300,000 worth of marijuana as Christmas gifts.
Now, Chittenden County State's Attorney Sarah George confirms the Jirons are the parents of Chittenden County Deputy Prosecutor Justin Jiron. George told WCAX News, "... Justin is in no way connected to this allegation other than by relation. Justin is and has been a dedicated public servant for over 15 years and I assure you he is as surprised and upset about these allegations as anyone." George said she planned to release a full statement Wednesday.
