The City of Plattsburgh Common Council has voted to furlough workers and put a freeze on new hires.

Twenty employees will be furloughed and 40 vacant positions will be frozen. The total of 60 positions includes police, parking enforcement, city clerks, public works and librarians.

The mayor said the city's intention is to bring them back as quickly as they can.
