Cuomo re-elected governor of New York

ALBANY, N.Y. (WCAX) New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has won another term in office.

The incumbent Democrat faced Republican Marcus Molinaro.

The Associated Press declared Cuomo the winner of his race shortly after 9 p.m.

Cuomo was seen from the start as a favorite in the race with big advantages in fundraising and name-recognition. He worked throughout the campaign to link Molinaro to President Donald Trump, who is unpopular with many New Yorkers.

Cuomo also touted his administration's work rebuilding airports and bridges and boosting the upstate economy.

"Thank you and I am, I'm humbled by the support of New Yorkers," Cuomo said. "I am proud of what we have accomplished together and together we are going to do even more."

Cuomo has been talked about as a potential 2020 presidential candidate but said he would serve out his entire term if re-elected.
