A Franklin County based dairy farm worker picked up by Border Patrol while on his way to work earlier this month has been released on bail from an immigration detention facility in New Hampshire. Francisco Rosendo Casarrubias received the support of Vermont's congressional delegation and the activist group Migrant Justice. Senator Leahy and Sanders and Congressman Welch wrote a letter in support of Casarrubias -- an undocumented immigrant.

They asked ICE to release him, arguing "From what we understand, Mr. Rosendo Casarrubias does not have a criminal record. Other than the fact that he overstayed his H-2 A visa, it is unclear why ICE would consider Mr. Rosendo Casarrubias an enforcement priority, even under President Trump's executive order on enhancing immigration enforcement."

Casarrubias' Massachusetts based attorney told us this show of support helped his client's case.
