The girlfriend of the man fatally shot by police following a botched Montpelier bank robbery has denied assisting him in another robbery in Waitsfield.

The Times Argus reports Jessica Morrill, 36, of Essex Junction, pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges that she helped Nathan Giffin rob the TD Bank in Waitsfield in December. The newspaper reports she allegedly told police Giffin was behind the Waitsfield robbery and that she unwittingly helped in his escape by giving him a lift after he crashed his car. She also said he gave her $1,000 stolen from the bank.

Morrill, who already faces charges of robbing a Jeffersonville bank in January, along with other drug charges, was ordered held on $50,000 bail.
