Essex high school students spread message through clothing

ESSEX, Vt. (WCAX) Fifteen year old best friends are spreading a message of positivity and inclusion through clothing.

The clothing is called Alone and that word is used ironically. Part of the mission is to embrace negativity by turning it into something positive.

Jesse Rivers and A.J. Mager are sophomores at Essex High School. Jesse started this clothing line in 2018 and then brought on A.J. to help with social media marketing.

The line includes sweatpants, hoodies and t-shirts, all with different messages but focusing on the word "alone." They hope that people who wear their clothes don’t feel alone. In fact, they want them to feel included.

Their slogan "Be your own alone" is to inspire you to be yourself and to not let hate change your path. The duo say Alone is about helping people be comfortable with themselves and being able to conquer their inner demons.

“I want them to feel like that person is going places and doing things with their lives. They are on a destiny and they are pursuing that destiny,” Rivers said.

They say they feel their destiny is to continue to grow their clothing line. They said the support from their peers has outweighed any negativity.
