Experts: Don't stop workouts during the holidays

ESSEX, Vt. (WCAX) With the holidays fast approaching, some people may be ditching their workout plans. The experts say that could have negative effects for the body and mind.

Hammerfit Athletic Club in Essex hosted a wellness fair Saturday at the Essex outlets. The event featured over 26 local consultants and business on hand to talk about kicking off the New Year in a healthy way. Hammerfit Athletic Club is a gym that includes workout classes for senior citizens and Zumba classes for kids. Personal trainer Eliza Beliveau knows that the holidays are a tough time to stay healthy, but says it's important to keep a good balance, and map out when you will make time for the gym.

“There's never been a time where I think anyone has ever said, 'oh I wish I hadn't gone to class or oh I shouldn't have gone to the gym today I really regret it.' It's always something that fills us back up, and gives us the energy and kind of de-stressing we need to get through the holidays,” said Beliveau.

This was the first year Hammerfit hosted the wellness fair. Organizers hope to have another event next year.
