Some residents jump from burning apartments in Berlin, NH

BERLIN, N.H. (AP) Some residents say they jumped from a burning house in New Hampshire as fire engulfed the building and collapsed part of the roof.

The mother of one resident who jumped from the three-story home in Berlin tells WMUR-TV her daughter suffered multiple broken bones after jumping early Tuesday.

The New Hampshire state fire marshal's office is investigating the fire. The Berlin Fire Department says the fire started at about 3:30 a.m. When firefighters arrived, they saw the back porch was on fire. Part of the roof collapsed. The fire was under control by midmorning.

There were three apartment units. It wasn't immediately known how many people were inside. No firefighters were hurt.

There was no immediate word on a possible cause.
