Green Mountain Transit general manager on paid administrative leave

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) The general manager of Green Mountain Transit is on paid administrative leave.

GMT Board Chair Tom Chittenden says the board decided unanimously to remove Mark Sousa. He provided no explanation for the move but said it has nothing to do with finances, and that the organization is running well.

GMT has faced criticism in recent weeks for the rollout of its "NextGen Service Plan" in June. The plan involved a complete restructuring of routes and higher fares for Chittenden County.

Some riders told WCAX News the new routes were confusing and not sufficiently publicized.

Chittenden says the board is working with an attorney and a third-party investigator, but would not say why.

GMT Director of Transportation Jon Moore will serve as acting general manager.
