FORT LEE, N.J. (WCAX) Drivers across the country are finding a holiday gift at the gas station-- lower prices.

Cheryl Holt drives several hours to visit family each week.

Reporter: Gas prices are at the lowest they've been in 2018. How do you feel about that?
Cheryl Holt: I feel great, a little money in my pocket!

According to AAA, the average price for a regular gallon of gas is down about 30 cents compared to a month ago.

"It's nice when the price goes down. I mean now around Christmas time, it's great with the family and the presents and kids and whatnot. It's a good thing," said Sean Coyle, a truck driver.

AAA says gas is cheaper because there is a higher supply of oil right now.

"Oil prices have mostly declined because of increased production from the Middle East, as well as increased production in the U.S. And that has increased the amount of oil that's on the market," said Devin Gladin of AAA.

Every state in the country has seen a double-digit drop in prices. The downward trend is expected to continue.

"As the remainder of winter progresses, drivers will likely see those prices continue to fall," Gladin said.

But enjoy it while it lasts. Prices will ramp up when the weather starts warming up this spring.
