Winooski test site reveals additional COVID cases
Vermont health officials Wednesday said the number of positive COVID-19 cases in a Winooski cluster appears to be increasing.
Vermont Health Commissioner Dr. Mark Levine says 200 tests were conducted on Monday and Tuesday at a new pop-up site at the O’Brien Community Center. He says preliminary numbers of new positive cases is in the 10 to 20 range. The test site opened Monday after five initial cases were reported. It will be open all week.
Gov. Phil Scott said he was not surprised by the cluster of new cases and that administration officials have been warning for weeks that the virus will likely be with us for a while, regardless of other positive statewide trends.
As of Wednesday, Vermont health officials reported 990 coronavirus cases in the state and 55 deaths.
