Gov. Phil Scott says he plans to extend Vermont's state of emergency for another 30 days.

It was scheduled to expire on July 15.

But the governor said on Monday that Vermonters should expect him to extend it another month, until August 15.

The state of emergency is what gives the governor power to issue guidelines for things like restricting occupancy in businesses or requiring quarantines.
