Despite decreased ridership, Green Mountain Transit is operating fare-free bus service until further notice.
GMT says limiting onboard interaction between drivers and passengers will help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Transit operators may ask passengers to enter and exit through the rear door of the bus.
In a press release on Tuesday, GMT said it's primary goal is getting people where they need to go safely. It is still recommended passengers stay home and use CDC-approved hygiene practices like hand-washing, covering your coughs with a tissue and staying home if you're sick.
The Downtown Transit Center Lobby in Burlington and the Montpelier Transit Center will be closed untli further notice.
