Green Up Day is finally happening. On Saturday, volunteers will give Mother Earth a spring cleaning.
Usually, it's the first Saturday in May, but because of the stay-at-home order, it had to be moved.
Organizers say if you're greening up along a road, be sure to face oncoming traffic, wear bright clothes, check for ticks, and watch out for any needles. This year they are also recommend wearing gloves and a mask.
"Green Up is really a socially distant activity anyway, so we're hoping that people will get out on this 50th anniversary do a great amount of cleaning up our roadsides. It's really important for our economy, our environement and our healthy way of living," said the group's Kate Alberghini.
In honor of half-a-century Green Up Vermont is giving each of the state's 250 towns and cities a birthday bag filled with local products and a sugar maple sapling to plant in the town.
