SOUTH BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) H&M is coming to South Burlington. Company officials announced they will open their first store in Vermont at the University Mall.
The 20,000-square-foot space is set to open at the mall this fall. The company says it expects to hire about 20 workers to staff the store in South Burlington.
H&M sells clothes for men, women and children. It bills itself as one of the world's largest fashion retailers that sells fashion-forward clothes at affordable prices. That chain has over 500 stores across the country.
H&M's upcoming arrival is the latest in a series of recent changes at the South Burlington mall, including the closure of the Bon-Ton and the future arrival of Target, which is also slated to open this fall. It comes at a time when big retail is on the decline across the country, and as nearby Burlington loses Macy's and all of the stores that once made up the Burlington Town Center Mall.
