COLCHESTER, Vt. (WCAX) A five-car crash temporarily closed Interstate 89 southbound near the Colchester exit Friday morning.
It happened between exits 16 and 17 on I-89 southbound.
We told you earlier this month that VTrans was installing new safety enhancements after 11 crashes in the area since construction began in April. They agreed to modify lighting and make other changes.
However, there has been no connection made between this crash and the construction. Police say it was mainly due to inattention and people driving too closely together.
"We're asking people to go ahead-- especially through these construction areas-- to go ahead and give a little bit more space due to sudden stops and this incident right here is a direct result of that," Vt. State Police Lt. Robert Lucas said.
Police say no one was injured in the crash.
The road reopened at about 9 a.m.
