Fourteen construction workers were arrested in an immigration sweep at a Colchester hotel.

Will Lambek of Migrant Justice says the ICE raid last Thursday was the largest action of its kind in Vermont in recent memory. The workers were from Central America and the Caribbean. It happened at the Days Inn on Route 15 around 5 that morning.

Lambek says the targeting of migrant workers is getting worse under the Trump administration.

"It's at a scale that we haven't seen before in Vermont. It's the largest immigration raid that we've seen in the state and it signifies a terrible new reality of what immigrants are living under in the Trump administration," Lambek said.

Lambek says the migrant community continues to be a critical part of the economy and the dairy industry in the state.

We reached out to ICE for more details about this situation but we were told officials were not available because of the government shutdown.
