COLCHESTER, Vt. (WCAX) One person was killed Saturday, after a single vehicle crash on Interstate 89.

Vermont State Police say Robert Jean, 51, of Colchester was traveling Southbound, when he collided with a set of concrete traffic barriers, drifted into a section of grass and then crossed into the northbound traffic lane.

The accident happened around 4:30 p.m. Saturday in a construction zone, between Exit 16 in Colchester and Exit 17 at the Champlain Islands. Police say speed, impairment, or traffic pattern do not appear to be factors in the crash. I-89 northbound was closed for around four hours, while traffic was rerouted.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to contact Vermont State Police Police at 802-878-7111.
