Vt. man accused of kidnap, rape to stand trial in March
A federal judge has set a trial date for a man charged with kidnapping a woman and her child from a mall in New Hampshire and then bringing them to Vermont, where police say he sexually assaulted the woman.
The judge scheduled the trial for Everett Simpson for March 23.
Investigators say Simpson left a Bradford drug abuse treatment center Jan. 4 and traveled to Manchester, New Hampshire, where the alleged kidnapping took place. They say he then took the victims to Vermont.
Simpson has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
