Jury hears from medical examiner in Burlington shooting case

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) A steady stream of prosecution witnesses continued on the stand Wednesday in the trial surrounding a deadly Burlington shooting.

Chavis Murphy is charged with the 2015 shooting death of 28-year-old Obafemi Adedapo outside the former Zen Lounge nightclub on Church Street.

Vermont Chief Medical Examiner Steven Shapiro testified about his discovery of Adedapo's multiple bullet wounds. "One of these bullets went through his heart -- that's hard to live through -- another went through his spinal cord. Definitely, if he would've survived this, he would've definitely been paralyzed," Shapiro said.

A former IT manager at the Flynn Theater also testified about video cameras that allegedly caught the aftermath of the shooting.

Witnesses told investigators Murphy and the victim may have fought over a woman before Adedapo was shot.

The trial is scheduled through the end of the week.
