PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. An internationally known author and humanitarian will speak in Plattsburgh Saturday night.
Le LY Hayslip is a guest at this weekend's Lake Champlain International Film Festival. Hayslip spent some of the day Friday talking to SUNY Plattsburgh students about her past and her road to humanitarianism.
The festival is featuring the film, Heaven and Earth, the final film in Oliver Stone's Vietnam War Trilogy. It tells the story of Hayslip as a young Vietnamese girl during the war. Since then, she's devoted her life to helping her home country.
"If you look back I can happily say that we rebuilt half of the country of Vietnam." said Le Ly Hayslip.
Since the start of her two foundations, East Meets West and Global Village Foundation, Hayslip has build numerous bridges, libraries and hospitals around the country. She'll be speaking at the Strand Saturday night at 6:30 and the film will follow at 7.
