Police say a homeless man shot a BB gun at the Plattsburgh Police Station on Friday.

According to police, James P. Stone, 23, walked up to the building on Pine Street around 7:30 p.m. and began shooting at the station. Initially, it appeared to police that Stone was firing a real gun. It was actually a CO2 powered BB gun. Stone allegedly fired six shots. The pellets hit front door windows and a lobby window.

Police say after Stone fired the shots, he tossed the weapon and sat on the ground to surrender. Stone told police he was hungry and getting arrested would get him a meal.

Stone faces several charges. He was arraigned Saturday morning and committed to Clinton County Jail on $2500 cash bail or $10,000 bond.

Plattsburgh City Police say they have never dealt with Stone before, but he does have a criminal record in Crown Point, NY. Stone most recently had been living in Florida and returned to the area two months ago.
