Most suspected mumps cases at UVM come back negative

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) We have an update from the University of Vermont about potential cases of the mumps on campus.

The school says Student Health Services evaluated 10 students with symptoms. The Vermont Department of Health says lab results show eight of the 10 cases came back negative. The remaining two are still pending.

Earlier this week, St. Michael's College in Colchester said it had three cases of mumps confirmed.

Mumps is a contagious illness that's caused by a virus that affects the salivary glands.
