FRANCONIA NOTCH, N.H. (WCAX) New Hampshire's governor ordered Cannon Mountain to close on Wednesday, citing concerns about the coronavirus.
Cannon was trying to remain open with sharp restrictions, like closing a lodge and shops, and only selling tickets outside.
The mountain said it was trying to follow guidelines from Gov. Chris Sununu and the CDC.
But on Wednesday afternoon, Sununu, R-New Hampshire, ordered the business to close by the end of the day, saying in a statement, "It has become clear today that large amounts of public congregation is occurring at Cannon Mountain. With the weekend quickly approaching, I have instructed Cannon management to cease operations by end of business today."
