NORWICH, Vt. (WCAX) The town of Norwich has picked its next police chief.
Town officials say Sgt. Jennifer Frank will be promoted to take over for long-time Chief Doug Robinson, who recently announced his retirement set for mid-April.
Robinson is a 17 year veteran on the Norwich force.
"While Chief Robinson's retirement will result in a tremendous loss to the community, I'm excited to usher in the next era of quality law enforcement and community engagement with the appointment of Sgt. Frank to Chief in mid-April," Town Manager Herb Durfee said in a statement.
Officials say Sgt. Frank holds a B.A. in political science, a master's in Education, and a Ph.D in Education. Before coming to Norwich, she's served as a detective/school resource officer, special investigator for crimes against women, an interim emergency planning director, and a social studies teacher.
