Welch bill aimed at recovering from emerald ash borer damage

WASHINGTON (WCAX) Vermont Rep. Peter Welch has introduced a bill to help forests recover from emerald ash borer damage.

Welch introduced a bill Thursday that would provide federal funding to help forests that are being destroyed by the invasive beetle. The Invasive Species Prevention and Forest Restoration Act would also help fund research on other invasive pests.

The ash borer has destroyed millions of ash trees in 35 states and has now spread to most counties in Vermont.
