Police say an employee at a South Burlington retirement home has been arrested after stealing prescription medications for her own use.

South Burlington police started investigating a week ago when staff at the facility on Harbor View Road discovered the drugs had been tampered with.

Police say Kimberly Coleman, 55, of Starksboro, stole fentanyl patches from someone living at the facility for her own use. She faces charges of abuse and neglect of a vulnerable adult.

The arrest comes as the state has been fighting in court to have a receiver permanently take over the Pillsbury properties in South Burlington and St. Albans after unrelated complaints of food insecurity and unpaid bills.
