A hoped-for wood pellet mill project will not be moving forward in northern Vermont at the site of a shuttered paper mill.

Project co-founder Tabitha Bowling said on Monday that the former Gilman Paper Mill site in Lunenberg was not going to work out. Bowling tells the Caledonian-Record that her team the costs of electricity connectivity at the site would have been too high for the project.

Lunenberg officials have been advised of the change before their annual town meeting in March.

The proposed mill had hoped to create 21 jobs. Bowling says she and her team "remain steadfast in our commitment to trying to deliver a mill in the Northeast Kingdom, and so we are very much focused on trying to locate another site."
