About $4.3 million of state money is headed to Plattsburgh to improve water infrastructure.

Officials say it will help the wastewater treatment plant process sludge more efficiently, improve odor control and upgrade the facility's appearance.

The governor also awarded the town $3 million for its water capital plan, a $24 million water infrastructure upgrade.

"Without the infrastructure we can't continue to elevate Plattsburgh, so we continue to look forward to moving this project forward," said Plattsburgh Town Supervisor Michael Cashman.

While the project will take years to complete, the Cashman says they will continue to apply for grants to ease the burden on tax payers.
