NY driver suspended from Plattsburgh race track over social media posts
A New York race car driver has been suspended from Airborne Speedway after allegedly making racist posts on social media.
Officials at Airborne Speedway suspended Nathan Smart after they say he posted racist comments online and that those comments do not reflect their views or that of their sponsors.
They say they have a social media policy in place for all drivers and after reviewing, decided to suspend Smart.
The suspension comes at a time of increased attention on NASCAR and race relations. The organization recently banned Confederate flags from all racetracks.
