Police have confirmed the identity of a man killed in a plane crash in Island Pond Saturday afternoon.

Authorities say Mark Biron, 60, of Brighton, was the pilot of the single-engine plane that crashed short of the runway at the John H. Boylan Airport on Route 105.

Emergency crews responded to the badly burned wreck. Biron was found dead at the scene.

Investigators from the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the cause of the crash.
