Police are investigating the apparent drowning of a Green Mountain College student in Poultney Monday afternoon.
Officers say they found Fuquan Ford, 20, in the Poultney River behind Green Mountain College Monday night. He was unresponsive and partially submerged. Officers say they tried to save him but he died.
We've learned Ford was a student at the college. He was from Albany, New York. Ford was a member of the Green Mountain Eagles Basketball Team and was known for his social activism on campus.
There will be a gathering on Thursday at noon on the college campus to remember Ford.
Anyone with information about Ford's death is asked to call the police.
